Lasagna Pinwheels

Lasagna Pinwheels

Upon reading the recipe, I thought that Lasagna Pinwheels {page 220} were an ingenious idea. The standard lasagna fillings made a little thicker than normal, rolled inside lasagna noodles, and topped with marina sauce.

I really liked the idea of the recipe, but the filling was too bland for my taste. It was kind of flavorless without any real defining characteristics. If I made this again, I would definitely add more seasoning to the filling. As it was, me, Ninjahusband, and Supertoddler all found it pretty inedible.

That being said, all 3 of us like really flavorful things, and someone who likes more basic or bland food would probably enjoy this. I would definitely recommend trying it, but seasoning the filling to your liking before baking.

  1. It looks good though. I love making pinwheels because it looks a little more fancy than a square of lasagna. :p

Was it inedible or just bland? I view those as two totally different things. For me, I view inedible as way too salty or flavour clashes, etc.

See, I am the worst recipe tester because I always taste and re-season as I go along. It's so hard for me to just leave things alone and not taste it!

  2. Hmmm -- do you just pick 'em up with your hands to eat? They are cute (great picture), but it seems like it would be a little hard to tackle the first bite. Hee hee.

  5. Oh as far as to how to eat them, whenever I have made pinwheels/rollups, I lay them on the plate the other way (flat part of the pasta roll on the plate). Example I found on another site here.
